fruit of the month: passionfruit
March’s fruit of the month is passionfruit. Sweet and tangy passionfruit add a tropical taste to whatever they are added to. The passionfruit is native to South America and is grown extensively in Australia.

Enjoy the last of the summer fruit for the season in this refreshing fruit salad. The lime syrup enhances the taste of the fruit and adds a delicious tang. You can use any combination of fruits for this healthy no-fuss dessert – my favourites: mango, papaya and berries.
It’s always exciting to try a new food, and last weekend I tasted for the first time a fruit called an Achacha. What an amazing taste sensation! A cousin of the mangosteen, Achachas are tangy and refreshing, the taste vaguely resembling that of a passionfruit although the texture is completely different.
February’s fruit of the month is berries in all their diverse varieties: strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries to name a few! They are at their best and least expensive right now, although many are available year round (often at a price).
