We will fly to Lucknow in the morning and arrive at lunchtime. The ‘City of Nawabs’ offers amazing options in Awadhi cuisine and is a must for foodies. Lucknowi food is quintessentially kebabs, sheermal (a sweet naan), kormas and Idris ki Biryani. The cooking technique usually incorporates the ‘dum style’ where the food is cooked over a low flame. You should finish you meal with Prakash ki Kulfi, Lucknawi pann or Malai ki Gilori. Prior to the cooking class we will explore some of the local markets, including the Yahiyaganj spice market where you can discover some of the famous Awadhi street food.

Day 7 – Jodhpur – Narlai [3:30hrs]
Half way between Udaipur and Jodhpur, hidden away in the Arawali Hills, we will spend the night at a former royal hunting lodge which has been converted into a boutique heritage hotel. We will arrive at the hotel around lunchtime and you will have the opportunity to relax in this rural setting.
In the evening you will enjoy true Rajasthani royal hospitality at the 16th Century old stepwell of Rawla Narlai. The evening begins when you gather at the courtyard to enjoy a welcome drink with the resident royal. You will be regaled with stories and history of the locals and have the opportunity to dress with turbans and scarf before being transported by bullock carts to your venue. Swaying to the movement of the cart you will watch the village slowly going to sleep and the starlit sky unfold above you until you reach your destination that is lit by hundreds of lamps. This fairytale setting is the start of a culinary journey that ignites your taste buds with elaborate flavours while being entertained by the local jogi, singing the devotional folk songs in his rich melodious voice. This culinary experience ends with the return to the hotel courtyard by our jeeps and a welcome cup of calming herbal tea.
